Keyshawn Johnson & Terrell Owens Have Verbal Pissing, er, Bleeping Match Over Bill Parcells Influence
READ MORE:

This was to be expected at some point this season. Keyshawn Johnson calls out Terrell Owens for dismissing Bill Parcells influence in the Cowboys success. Owens responds with the classic, you do what I'm doing challenge:

"I challenge him to come down here and take my job. ESPN producers, let him go. I'm probably the reason he's in the booth now. He's going to be a hater and throw me under the bus because he has to defend Bill. He won a Super Bowl and all, but you'd have to check the roster to know he was even on the team."

Johnson then says something about getting into a pissing bleeping match with a skunk or something to that effect. I'm not sure who to side with here. Clearly, Johnson is partly correct, but I do believe Wade Phillips looser attitude has allowed the Cowboys to play more comfortably.

Enjoy all the hilarity above, courtesy of Awful Announcing.

Nothing like having the media make the story instead of just reporting.  This was pretty obviously set up to bait T.O.  Its too bad he took it.

I caught this earlier today on NFL Live and they had Keyshawn on live and he gave the skunk pissing analogy on there. Trey Wingo looked like Mike Myers when Kanye West said "George Bush doesn't care about black people."

I love Keyshaun Johnson for standing up for Coach Parcells......basically what TO is saying is " Since Bill treated me like the baby that I am, I did not perform to  my level of play!!!!"  Keyshaun called him out, and it is about time it was said! I hate TO for making it easy for Parcells to walk away!

I'm glad he took it...who cares, none of us think any differently of him...Actually I like the idea, get your team into the media...and own keyshawn at the same time.

"He won a Super Bowl and all, but you'd have to check the roster to know he was even on the team."

That's a good one.  Even if it's irrevelant to the whole dispute and not exactly true.

I gotta side with TEE OHH on this one. Keyshawn was drafted before him and still couldn"t hold is jock........never could!..........I guess Key and that clusterf**k that sorta coached the COWBOYS didn't utilize him. I know Bill won two super bowls.....you really would have to read the Giants roster to know he was even there!

Keyshaun was not bashing TO.... he was giving credit to the man who rebuilt that team...... TO turned it into a playground fight..... it is like he could not say anything intelligent so he said "Oh ya? well my momma is prettier than your momma!"

I think Owens was right in his response to Keyshawn, regarding stats who's the better reciever, which IS A NO BRAINER to say the least.   Also, Key wrote that book, Just Gimme da damn ball!,   What a crybaby, in his own right.   Bill Parcells retired, not because of TO, he wasn't the only reason for his retirement.    Keyshawn needs to let it go!    We all know that Key and Bill are real close, don't pick on TO like he's some punk who disrespected Bill Parcells.   Let it go, Keyshawn.   Your days are over with, and just sit in the booth acting like your self centered self.

Key never said he was better- he said give credit to Bill....

I for one am tied of hearing TO say that Bill did not use him as a playmaker...maybe if he hadnt dropped all those playmaking passes.....

Owens has done absolutely nothing wrong this year, and the media is still trying to find ways to vilify him.  It's pathetic.

Bill never used Witten as a playmaker, and look how he has been VERY PRODUCTIVE this season.   Career season for him, and I think he's the best, underrated TE in the game.    Witten isn's just some role player blocking tightend, he's consistent, and is tough.    Owens and Parcells didnt get along from the start, and it carried on throughout the season.   Bill was a great coach, but retired.   Key, a good reciever, not great, but he too is retired.

I agree that Parcells did build most of this team, but he did step down. Not to mention who is Keyshawn to say anything about anybodies coach.

Keyshawn's comments were unjust and unprofessional. Bill Parcells is a big boy and he does not need Keyshawn to do his dirty work. The funny thing is Keyshawn and Bill did not get along either when he played in Dallas. Keyshawn is hypocritical, he pulled the same type of thing on Ocho Cinco when he did his interview with him. Watch it, and you will just see that Keyshawn is hypocritical and likes to throw gasoline in the fire.

Bill knew what he was getting into when the Cowboys first signed TO, but with risk, great reward can come. Look at Randy Moss. In the NBA, look at Rasheed Wallace. Keyshawn, you just need to do your job, and not take out personal vendettas on players that you are jealous of. You have one of three choices: 1. Tell Bill to do his own dirty work, 2. Put on a NFL uniform and backup all your talk, 3. Shut your mouth and do your job professionally.

The truth of the matter is that Parcells never used the ENTIRE offense as a "playmaker" and that was the downfall of the Cowboys last year! The NFL had just passed him by. Parcells wanted to run a "plain vanilla" offense while bashing, discrediting and humiliating his players in the media. This is the main reason that Jason Garret has been able to take virtually the same offense and make so much more out of it that Bill Parcells ever did. It is a proven fact that brain function diminishes at a certain age...........Parcells must be there!

My feeling on the Parcells era is that professional teams, and professional coaches, are judged by their results.  In the time Parcells was at the Cowboys, the team failed to win the NFC East and failed to win a playoff game.

In the Phillips era (so far), the team's already won a competitive NFC East division at his first attempt, will progress further in the play-offs that Bill did in his Cowboys years (thanks to the first round bye), and Phillips' personnel is pretty much the same as Parcells had.

Parcells may have had a positive effect on the development of players that Phillips inherited, but how much was Parcells and how much was Jerry Jones ?

WOW!!! How much of this year's success is Garrett and not Phillips????

I agree - which proves the point that it's hard to justify how much of this year's success is Parcells and not Phillips / Garrett / Romo / TO / Folk / Roy Williams / Aikman / Irvin / Jessica Simpson or whoever.
He ( Parcells) brought in the talent, including consulting with Wade and Jerry for this years roster ( the draft, the trades, the cuts, the combine)- he was under contract with the team until the end of this year....... I think he had a lot to do with the way the team gels and the talent that is there... if not for a botched snap, they might have had a ring...... can not change my opinion!

And I do respect your opinion.

I just think that the moment a coach leaves a team (any team), so does his influence on that team, and any claims on subsequent success.  If a coach thinks that the talent that he has developed in his time with that team is on the brink of greatness, and he has a year left on his contract, then he has nothing to lose by staying on for that final year and seeing if he can take the team all the way.

History will always show, though, that this year's success - in Head Coach terms and stats - will be attributed to Phillips not Parcells.

Unfair, but true

keyshawn had wash up quaterback and nobobys to throw him the ball and he still had over 800 receptions and 10,000 yards. T.o. had steve young hof, jeff garcia (in his prime), and donovan mcnabb (still in his prime) so of couse t.o is gonna have better stats than keyshawn.

T.O. made Jeff Garcia who he is, and gave McNabb by far his best season ever.  All those quarterbacks, with the exception of Young have fallen apart without him.
