Blog Photo - Lakers Hire Mark Madsen As AssistantThe Los Angeles Lakers have been in the social media press lately - mainly for displaying 'STAY D12' billboards around Los Angeles as well as gracing the Staples Center. However, they have remained behind their co-tenants in the race for biggest offseason story as the Clippers just hired Doc Rivers and lured Alvin Gentry away from the Lakers assistant coaching offer to take the Associate Head Coach position with the Clippers.

However, the Lakers made sure they had a replacement ready: former Laker and championship dancer, Mark Madsen will join Mike D'Antoni's staff as an assistant. Most remember Madsen for his awkward abilities on the floor, but his knack to do the right thing at the right time, even if it appeared to be by accident.

Madesn was serving as coach of the LA D-Fenders, the Lakers D-league associate and apparently showed that he deserves a crack at the NBA Assistant level...or they just needed to hire someone once Gentry chose the Clippers.

His breakdancing moves on the championship stage were unparalleled - even by Shaquille O'neal. Rest assured, Kobe will have his time to reminisce while rehabbing his achilles tendon and gracing the sidelines with his former teammate.

But now, for old times sake, lets look at the man with the moves - Mark Madman Madsen.
