Let's Send OJ Mayo to Beijing Too...
I know...I know...FIBA rules only allow for 12 Players, to be on the bench each game, but I was wondering if we could send OJ Mayo on the plane ride over to the Far East this August as an alternate? After being taken 3rd overall in the NBA Draft June 26, 2008, OJ blew up the summer league with a "Thunder Dunk" this past Friday. Now, on Monday vs. the Spurs, he hits "This 70 Foot Shot" at the buzzer of the 1st quarter. Because I live in SoCal, I wanted to see OJ play just 1 more year at USC, but it was pretty obvious this kid was headed to the NBA.
So who are the alternates headed to China to help the USA bring back Gold this summer? Can we add OJ Mayo to the list? Kevin Durant is headed to Beijing, so why not add just 1 more to the roster? Here is the list so far:
