Lou Piniella Doesn't Know A Steroid From A Reefer
Maybe This Is Why Lou Piniella Was Never A Very Good Player In His Day

Lou Piniella is a pretty good manager, but he was a pretty average player back in the day. After his postgame interview yesterday, it's obvious that Sweet Lou doesn't know all that much about the performance enhancing drugs that gave one of the Cubs' greatest players the extra boost that he needed to succeed.

"I wouldn't know a steroid from a reefer"

Maybe that's the problem with the Cubs this year. Piniella has been trying to give them steroids to boost their performance, and has been slipping them marijuana. That would definitely explain Milton Bradley's performance a few days ago, that's for sure.

So what Lou is saying is, he would have been mystified by the statement

"Duuuuuuuuude! Save me a hit of that Nandro!"

Of course, Sammy would have said that in Spanish because, you know, he only speaks English when he's talking about Pepsi®...

Lou Pinella says " I wouldn't know a steroid from a reefer" that's classic!
The reason why my beloved Cubbies are struggling this season is that they truly miss Aramis Ramirez.
Whoever leaked this rumor that Uncle Lou has been slipping tree to his players ought to be dragged into the dadburncottonpickin' street and shot. Sometimes the media is so full of hogwash.

No one leaked the rumor. It was me. Telling a joke. I didn't think that I would need to clarify that.

Even if he was found guilty he would only serve 1/30th of his sentence

Good stuff, Pat.  A reporter also asked Lou last night if he should show more "fire" since the team has been bad, and Lou replied that he wasn't a "dragon."  I love that guy.

btw, Pat 1700 career hits and a lifetime .291 avg is a little better than average. He had 18 postseason RBI's to go with a .300 avg there. He's a great manager if he has great players...lol..Good ol Lou..... we need more Lou Pinella's in baseball.

You know what's funny? I actually didn't really know that much about Sweet Lou's playing career when I wrote this. I thought about looking it up, but then I was like... nah, he's not a Hall of Famer, so he couldn't have been THAT good.

And then I thought "hmmm... I wonder if he was actually pretty good, and someone will end up calling me on that one".

And you did. You got me.

p.s. "He's a great manager if he has great players" ... who isn't?

I figured your thought process was -'he was a Yankee..he sucked'...lol I love Lou he's a Tampanian and I get by his house for work sometimes. I understand why he failed with the Rays...I was very non-specific when I talked about his managing skills..I guess I meant he prefers a veteran team that doesn't make stupid rookie mistakes...lol....gain who doesn't?!
