I was going to wait until later this evening to put up the thread, but I thought you could use the late afternoon laugh provided by the video above. The best "There Can Only Be One" spoof to date.
Big night for the NBA, and more precisely the Eastern Conference.
Like last year's NBA Draft Lottery there will be two winners resulting from the bouncing ping pong balls. Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose are both franchise changing players and the David Stern needs to be praying and/or calculating that Eastern Conference teams wind up 1st and 2nd. Wouldn't hurt if 1985 repeated itself with the Knicks being revitalized by a big man.
The draft lottery will be followed by Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Before this all started I picked the Boston Celtics to reach the NBA Finals, but they haven't exactly impressed. Maybe they'll flip the switch on the road, but honestly, I just don't think they're as good a team as Detroit. The 'Stons will steal a road win at some point in this series when the Celtics tire, but tonight they might struggle after the layoff.
I love how when the discuss the Melo trade to New Jersey that one of the part going to Denver is "Keith Van Horn's Contract". I fully expect Bill Simmons to start using Keith Van Horn's Contract instead of Theo Ratliff's Expiring Contract.
Was I not the only one who was glad that we didn't have to see Jerry Krause celebrate getting the first pick with his neck fat flopping everywhere like when the Bulls got the first pick in 1999?
Indeed, you were not the only one. Hard to believe the Bulls lucked into this, although I'm still not going to rejoice until draft day when hopefully John Paxson selects either Rose or Beasley.
Is that really a bad thing? I'm not that draft savvy, but I do feel fear he might draft DeAndre Jordan or something.
I think going with either of those two would be pretty bad. Jordan is a major project and I think Lopez will end up being a little bit better than Olowokandi.
I can hear it now...
"With the 3rd pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select: Brook Lopez, Center from Stanford."
I don't think Brooke Lopez would be that bad, especially paired up with Al Jefferson. Granted, I wouldn't want him at #3, but still not a horrible pick.
