NBA Opening Night Live Thread
The NBA: Any-Thang Is Poss-Ah-Bull!!!!!!!
The end of October is always one of my favorite times of the year. College Football and the NFL are really hitting their strides but what I like best about late October is the return of the NBA.

Tonight we have the Celtics raising the banner and opening their title defense against LeBron and the Cavs. Following that will be Greg Oden and everyone's new favorite team, the Portland Trailblazers, making their debut against Kobe and the Lakers.

LeBron told the Sporting News that, "I know I've improved five times than I was in Game 7 of the Boston series."

We all now get to look forward to LeBron having a 225-point, 25-rebound, 30-assist game tonight against the Celtics.

The three games tonight:

Cleveland at Boston (TNT, 8pm)
Milwaukee at Chicago (WGN & FSN Wisconsin 8:30pm)
Portland at Los Angeles Lakers (TNT, 10:30pm)

I am taking Cleveland to win a thriller, Chicago to win a grind it out game, and Los Angeles to be too much for the young Blazers. Meanwhile, FanIQ is picking Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles to win.

Here is the thread to Q it up and breakdown all the games tonight or you can head over to the game pages.

And if you're wondering where that headline comes from, just watch this clip again.

Not really a huge fan, but I'll say Lebron James and the Cavs win 103-101.
Chicago will beat the Bucks 106-89.
And I will take the Lakers to beat the Portland Blazers, 104-96

And for my Championship Pick, I will take the Detroit Pistons to beat the Utah Jazz you heard me the UTAH JAZZ. In 6.

MVP: Lebron James

Sixth Man: If not starting Jason Maxiell

Defensive man of the year: Im not sure, haha.

Rookie of the year: Michael Beasly.

And theres my picks of the year.

I can't wait for this season to start. I'm in many fantasy leagues and I am a big fan of the Houston Rockets. I hope with the new addition of Ron Artest, and the health of Yao, McGrady, and Battier, Houston can go farther this year into the playoffs. (if not win it all)
:)

Heres my prediction of Ron Artest of this basketball season:

Artest probably will get kicked out of the NBA somehow, and continue with his rapping career. He won't go far in that either, so I see him at the end of the NBA season doing nothing and maybe living on the streets.

Surprised that Sefolosha is starting... and Ty Thomas.  No clue what kind of coach Del Negro will be, but I like his starting line up.

Is there any reason Big Z plays for Cleveland anymore? I mean he really slows them down.

Joe Alexander hasn't played yet for the Bucks and isn't on their injury list, so my hating of Scott Skiles will live on.

That is odd. I mean know Alexander struggled a bit adjusting to the NBA in the preseason but at least see what he can do out there.

No kidding.  Especially when you're other options include Malin Allen.

Derrick Rose and Ty Thomas just had a highligh alley-oop that will be on SportsCenter's Top Ten tonight.

Because he can still shoot and pass. You probably misse that oop to Lebron between 3 Celtics. I was shaking my head like "WOW!"

The great thing about having DirecTV is that I get all of the Fox Sports channels from around then nation so I am going to get to watch a lot of NBA this season. That oop was really nice.

I did miss the oop to LeBron, I just think Cleveland could be a better team with a big man that could move a little bit better.

Nice.  I'l be stuck with a whole lot of Bucks basketball.  I'm thankful that the Lakers are put on national tv every chance the networks get.  I'm also probably the only person that is thankful for that.

Just got back to the POR-LAL game, and the Blazers picked it up. On a huge run. [12-0 going back into 2nd quarter], Oden doesn't look that well in his first game. Not moving well, looks like a rock. Good game so far for the Lakers. Plenty of gametime left though, a 22 point lead is down to 10.

Joel Pryzbilla single handedly blew this game for the Blazers.

I think this is a team loss. The whole team looked dejected after losing Oden.

Oh definitely.  Its just that Pryzbilla set off Kobe after the Blazers got the lead down to 8 points.
