I really, really hope the Spurs don't win again. That's my overwhelming thought heading into the NBA season which tips off in just 6 hours in San Antonio. Please, someone other than the Spurs.
While I try to wrap my mind around that and transition quickly into basketball mode I've been scouring the web for all those "genius" expert picks and here's what I've found: a fairly diverse group of predictions. Granted, it's the usual candidates, but NBA is much more fun when there's a handful of teams with a chance. Lately, it's seemed like just 2 or 3. I'm pumped to watch the rookies (more later), pumped to watch the Suns and Warriors, and pumped for the return of the Birdman at midseason (yes, believe it).
Gearhead has the big NBA Prediction Poll attached to his predictions, so make sure to fill that out and share your own predictions. As for mine, I'm going to Suns over Celtics. Looking forward to an entertaining season, one that I'm more excited for than most.
Ric Bucher has got to be going out on a limb so that if on the outside chance that Houston plays Detroit in the Finals, he can go on ESPN and say I told you so.
I'm going with Gearhead and saying Spurs over Bulls in what will probably be a sweep. The only way I could see this changing is if the Bulls or Mavs trade for Kobe, but of which still seem unlikely to me.

It's probably the result of being here in Chicago and subjected to the usually negative media towards the Bulls, and watching a few pathetic preseason games, but I'm not expecting much improvement from the Bulls.
Hopefully they'll surprise. They still don't have a low post scorer and still don't have the go to guy. Gordon wants to be, but at his height he's limited. Deng could be the guy ... if he is, then the Bulls will make it far in the East.
