The NFL came out today with its official Year in Review video, and despite the annoying song accompanying it, it does a reasonably decent job of covering most of the things that happened over the course of the season, all while random paint splotches fly across the screen.
But there is one interesting thing about this official video. And that's that it contains a few excessive celebration penalties in it. You know, the same excessive celebration penalties that the league supposedly can't stand, and fines guys about the same amount for as when they decapitate a quarterback. The video contains both Chris Johnson's bongo drum session and Wes Welker's snow angel, both of which resulted in fines.
So what's the message here? I think it's that the NFL is pretty damn hypocritical.
One could also ask why they show several huge hits, but refrain from showing you shots of Ben Roethlisberger leaving the field immobilized on a stretcher, like he did during the last game of the season. Although, let's be honest, you know the reason for that.
Hey, you know...fans are paying their hard nose money to watch the games...all they saw were yellow flags throwings, unnecessary roughness, big plays, whistles blowing, hittings and tacklings, hear the announcers play by play...etc....what we are missing was the after touchdown dances and funny acts....what is the Commissioner trying to prove...make the game in shorter times? Our fans are getting bored with this ridiculous rules and want something to inspired and exciting games to make them feel they are part of the teams! Get rid of the f*&^ing rules and get into the real hard nose football games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
