Nate Robinson Shoots at the Wrong Basket

Nothing Says, "No Way We're Making the Playoffs" Like Shooting at the Wrong Basket.

In a game featuring two of the NBA's worst teams, Nate Robinson added insult to a game that was already an injury to the basketball starved fans of the New York area. With half-a-second left in the first quarter and New York inbounding the ball on their end of the court, Nate took the inbounds pass and chucked it into the wrong basket. The basket did not count as time expired before the ball left his hands.

That didn't really matter to Mike D'Antoni, who went angry chimp all over Nate. Robinson, for his part, didn't seem to understand what the fuss was all about. It was a hell of a shot after all.

The Knicks are a mess. They are 3-9, were caught flirting with Allen Iverson and then pretended they weren't. Mike D'Antoni was supposed to usher in an era of exciting up-tempo basketball and GM Donnie Walsh was going to give him the talent to make the machine run. If things keep going this badly, neither of them may be around to see these plans come to pass. At this point, it looks like they are playing for the lottery and the LeBron James sweepstakes. One has to wonder if LeBron or any of the celebrated class of 2010 free agents will want to join an organization so far from the playoffs. This is a bad team.

Of course, the Nets are worse and managed to lose 98-91, despite Robinson's hijinks and the return of their starting point guard Devin Harris. They are now 0-13 and sit just four losses away from tying the NBA record for consecutive losses to start a season. I smell schadenfreude!

Okay, you think that all of a sudden, Allen Iverson will become an unselfish team leader and improve the skills of those around him, and yet that is NOT the hallmark of his career...so my question is  MIKA? Who are YOU talking about?  He is not playing and no one is trying to pay him, otherwise we would be watching him throwing up his junk right now.. Not even mad at him, he was great as a Sixer, not since...

Asertiv808 you do have a point..1.. that his he was not a player who develope other players he is a scorer the knicks as I can see have talent but no disciple to win they play hard for 3 or 4 qrts but can not finish a game winning so my POINT is that he could have brought that scoring confident and decision making in the final mins of a 4qrt game

If D'antoni can't get it done in NY, I don't know who can. It's not as if they are going to land Phil Jackson anytime soon.

Mike D'Antoni showed interest and then blew off the Bulls.  That was of course before ping-pong ball luck, which turned into Derrick Rose.  Ha Ha, Coach.  Enjoy basketball hell.
