For years our Canadian friends to the north have had a song that they felt was their true national anthem - Hockey Night in Canada. Actually, I didn't say that, Wayne Gretzky did. Anyway, the song is an integral part of Canada and all 5 of you that are hockey fans have undoubtedly heard it. Here it is again.

But you may also know that the the Canadian Broadcasting Company lost the rights to the song in June. How a government backed TV station loses a country's favorite song is beyond me, but whatever.

Anyway, they opened the contest for finding a new song to all Canadians, and this is what they came up with.

What a complete mess. It's called "Canadian Gold" which means, uh, I have no clue. And what are those things that sound like bagpipes in the background?

Somewhere, Wayne Gretzky is rolling over in his grave. Wait, he's not dead? Well he probably will be after he hears this.
