Tuesday night, with the Mets and Phillies squaring off in a huge three-game series, we were reminded about New York's unique capabilities to squander large leads.
Leading 5-2 after eight solid innings from Johan Santana (complete with his 1,500th strikeout), all went downhill. We'll give them a slight break because Billy Wagner was not available, but you'd like to think Duaner Sanchez and Joe Smith could get three outs... or at the very least, ONE.

Ouch.
So Taguchi would then double in two more runs to tie the game, followed by a Jimmy Rollins double to grab a two run lead. Ballgame.
Fun night at Shea, and plenty more to follow. With the NL Central joining the NL East in a three-team race. We're in for a must-watch-each-pitch final two months of baseball.
Phillies 8, Mets 6
