Orlando Cabrera Has A Problem With Grant Balfour; Rays And White Sox Could Get Interesting
Must Be That Age-Old Rivalry Heating Up Again. Or Just Ozzie Guillen's Idiocy Rubbing Off On His Players

Orlando Cabrera took offense to one of Grant Balfour's pitches in Game 1 of the ALDS between the White Sox and Rays. You'd think it was a fastball up and in, right? Wrong. It was an outside pitch, well out of the strike zone.

Apparently, Cabrera wanted Balfour to throw him a strike. But you would think that someone who was already 0-3 in the game, and was up with the bases loaded wouldn't have a problem with being walked, especially when his team is down by 3 in the 7th inning.

Balfour ended up striking out Cabrera, which goes to show that when you're in a playoff game and your team is losing, you should probably worry less about trying to show up the opposing pitcher, and worry more about getting a base hit, instead of going 0-4 and leaving 5 men stranded on base.

Evan "Long Ball" Longoria would have hit a grand slam, instead.

The Rays are now leading the Series 1-0, and will stay in Tampa for Game 2 tonight (Friday), when Scott Kazmir (12-8, 3.49) will pitch against Mark Buerhle (15-12, 3.79).

The Rays-White Sox Series Is Already Pretty Intense [Awful Announcing]

More on this: after the game apparently Cabrera had calmed considerably:"They said he (balfour) always gets pumped up like that, he always uses the F-word to the hitter....I didn't know that, so I just got mad a little bit."
Balfour acts like a crazed man on the mound to pump himself up. Cabrera didn't know that and thought Balfour was challenging him so he kicked dirt towards the mound. As you can see Balfour was up to the challenge.
Hey Joe Maddon, why isn't this guy the Rays closer?

I think the bigger news is that Balfour (affectionately called Ball Four in Milwaukee) has somehow become a legitimate MLB pitcher.

I loved it...I'm hoping this series goes 5 games...I'm rooting for the Sox, but how can anyone not appreciate the year Evan Longoria has had?

It's not that he acts like a crazed man, he is a crazed man. He is constantly talking to himself on the mound....I'm not sure Cabrera would have wanted any part of him. Rays pitchers got some cojones, if Shields hadn't swung and missed against Coco Crisp back in June, Crisp would have had some serious damage. He would have been "Knocked the $^#% out"...

Even if the Rays were to win it at home Game 5 in the bottom of the 9th "Walk-Off" style?

Would be sweet considering that I'm sitting on Game 5 tickets.....I just want them to get it out of the way.
