Orlando Cabrera took offense to one of Grant Balfour's pitches in Game 1 of the ALDS between the White Sox and Rays. You'd think it was a fastball up and in, right? Wrong. It was an outside pitch, well out of the strike zone.
Apparently, Cabrera wanted Balfour to throw him a strike. But you would think that someone who was already 0-3 in the game, and was up with the bases loaded wouldn't have a problem with being walked, especially when his team is down by 3 in the 7th inning.Balfour ended up striking out Cabrera, which goes to show that when you're in a playoff game and your team is losing, you should probably worry less about trying to show up the opposing pitcher, and worry more about getting a base hit, instead of going 0-4 and leaving 5 men stranded on base.
Evan "Long Ball" Longoria would have hit a grand slam, instead.
The Rays are now leading the Series 1-0, and will stay in Tampa for Game 2 tonight (Friday), when Scott Kazmir (12-8, 3.49) will pitch against Mark Buerhle (15-12, 3.79).
