Pat Knight, who is currently the head basketball coach of Texas Tech, is the son of Bobby Knight, just in case you weren't aware. And, if you watch this video above from last night's Tech game against Nebraska, you'll see that Pat learned a thing or two from his father, like how to go ape**** when you get jobbed on a call.
Personally, I think Knight had a legitimate argument here, but I don't think he handled it in the right way. Running onto the court to confront a ref never ends well, if you know what I mean. Here's what Pat should have done.
The chair always gets the officials' attention. It's simple, direct, and it works every time.
Living in Lincoln, I watched the game last night from start to finish at a sports bar. Pat Knight's effort was totally staged due to his team's lack of effort. He was seen on camera asking his players "What the F are you guys doing out their?" Finally the call which was typical for the game on both sides of the game set him off. Nebraska played better defensively and deserved the victory.
He has learned well, his father's seeming "freak-outs" also only took place when he wanted to send a message to his team, I don't know if he has Robert Montgomery Knight's Xs and Os mastery, but he clearly gets the Psy Ops approach from the General.
