One of the great aspects of the sports with minimal scoring is that the entire complexion of a game can change in seconds. Red Wings fans were starting to pop their champagne (or Miller High Life) in the final minute. Countdowns had begun...
Then Max Talbot scored with 34 seconds remaining. New game. And they basically would play an entire new 60 minutes.
He delivered with an outstanding call by the Penguins play-by-play man.
As great as Sykora and Talbot's goals were, Marc-Andre Fleury, who had a less than gracious entrance to the Stanley Cup Finals, was the star. 55 saves. Yes, 55. That's 19 more than his season and playoff high.
So now "we're headed back to the Burgh" with a new series. Penguins don't seem like such long shots anymore.
I can say that last night drew me back to hockey. My girlfriend's family is from Detroit. So I decided to watch the game last night and man was I glad I did. Although my eyes aren't happy with me today(Yawnnnnnnnn man am I tired).
All three OT's were extremely entertaining. I will be tuning into game 6 tomorrow.
