After another disappointing season at the University of Tennessee, Phillip Fullmer will be gone after this year as the head coach of Tennessee football. The Vols are already 3-6, and will need a miracle to become bowl-eligible. They started off the season ranked 18th, and it's been all downhill from there.
Tennessee fans have been all over Fullmer for a few years now, and they don't exactly seem to be broken up about his pending departure. It looks like the final winner of Fulmer Bingo will be Vols fans, after all. This year is the 2nd time in the past 4 seasons that the Volunteers will finish with 6 or more losses, and the last two seasons disappointingly ended with trips to the Outback Bowl.
Fullmer will receive a $6 million settlement after stepping down at the end of the season, and he will likely be the target of some other schools seeking a head coaching change. He won a National Championship in 1998, when the Vols went undefeated and beat Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl.
No word yet on who they will look for to replace Fulmer, but we can only hope that Nick Saban and Bobby Petrino's names will pop up.
