In a game that saw more personal foul penalties than I saw all season watching the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to take home their 6th Lombardi Trophy. I won't lie, I thought as soon as Warner threw that pick that Harrison returned for a touchdown, this game was over. But the Cardinals fought back, looked like they were going to win, and then Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes managed to connect for one of the more impressive clutch touchdowns you'll ever see.
The interesting thing was that for most of the game, neither of these two teams looked all that great. There was stupid penalty after stupid penalty committed by Arizona and Pittsburgh blew multiple chances to put the game away. Basically, this is a kind way of saying this game kinda sucked - minus Harrison's pick-six - until the 4th quarter. But man, that quarter didn't disappoint.
Arizona, despite losing, showed that they at least belonged in this game. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has proven itself to be the model NFL franchise. However, I'm unsure what the future holds for both teams. Kurt Warner may retire, and it seems unlikely the Cardinals can repeat their amazing playoff run again. On the flip side, the Steelers aren't exactly a team that I would expect to repeat. This isn't a Dallas or 49ers or even Patriots kind of team that's clearly superior to everyone else in the NFL.
But all that said, it was a pretty good end to a pretty entertaining season. Only a little more than 8 months to go....
