What the Red Sox bloggers are saying this morning ...
Joy of Sox has all your newspaper cover needs
Lester, Sox bring another World Series trophy to Boston (Over the Monster) - "Ninety-two pitches epitomized a player, a team, a coaching staff and most importantly a World Series sweep. Jon Lester's start tonight may be the story of the year. Lester, who came back this season after being diagnosed with Lymphoma, spun a gem to win game four of the 2007 World Series. His 92 pitches resulted in him lasting 5.2 innings, allowing three hits, three walks, no runs and struck out three.
Lester went from his potential death bed to clinching a World Series championship in less than a year. He went from a lack of mental and physical strength to pitching to his full potential in the biggest game of his life. Lester was brilliant."
Feel it again (Surviving Grady) - "Once again, the Red Sox reward my lack of faith with a World Championship, fueled by a relentless offense, tough starting pitching, the mind of Francona, Bobby Kielty's off-the-bench-and-into-our-hearts magic, the movie-of-the-week that is Jon Lester, Ellsbury-n-Elf, and the Mike Lowell Appreciation Society. There were some tense moments -- I'll admit I nearly pissed myself when Jamey Carroll belted that fly ball to left in the ninth -- but it all worked out in the end, the season closing with the familiar sight of the Papel-Bot going ape-sh#t. Big kudos to those fans who brought the Pap puppet to Denver... that thing deserves its own NESN show."
Boston Red Sox: 2007 World Series Champions - (Yanksfan vs Soxfan) - "Just a few random memories of the season at this climactic, joyous moment. The Mother's Day Miracle. Buck's no-hitter. The late-season six-run meltdown against the Yankees. Josh in the playoffs. Paps Riverdancing. There are many, many more. That's for the next few days. It seems fitting that this season ends with a victory for Jon Lester and a World Series ring for JD Drew as well. For Lester, who triumphed over a far more trying opponent this past year, this has to have been a monumentally exhilirating experience capped with a moment of immeasurable joy. And for Drew, who battled public sentiment but also the stresses of caring for a sick child, this has to be redeeming. To those two we offer our heartfelt congratulations, and to the entire team we also say congrats and thank you. What a year you have given us."
Mom, can we keep him??? (Red Sox Monster) - "Listen, I don't want to talk about Mike Lowell's impending free agency, and I don't want to talk about the Code Red hurl-a-thon it would be to have Alex Rodriguez join the Red Sox. Nope. I want good ol' Mr. World Series MVP at third base for the Red Sox next season, and I'm not taking no for an answer -- even if ESPN is already raising the subject. Do we have to launch a picket? Ruffle some feathers at the duck boat party this weekend? Kidnap Theo Epstein and make him watch reruns of MASH until he comes to his senses and offers a three-year deal? I want answers, and I want them now, Bubba."
Oh to wonder what the feeling must be like.
