Rich Eisen Runs The 40-Yard Dash At The NFL Combine
Rich Eisen's Draft Stock Just Plummeted
READ MORE:

One of the things I find most curious about the NFL Combine is that if you run a blazing 40-yard dash, it can pretty much make up for 4 years of mediocrity on the football field. Because we all know that the key to making it in the NFL is running fast in a straight line.

Luckily for us though, the NFL's infatuation with the 40 led to Rich Eisen of the NFL Network lacing up some Under Armour shoes and giving it a shot - in his suit, no less. This is I believe the third year Eisen has done the 40. He blew out his hamstring in 2007, and I can't find any video for 2008.

I tell you, watching a talking head suffer through two 40 runs is well worth your time. Even better is that this year they did a simul-cam of Rich against Pat White, Cedric Pearman, Darius Heyward-Bey, and BJ Raji. It's not pretty.

Personally, I love this, and think all football analysts should be subjected to 40-yard dashes. I'd bet good money on Chris Berman passing out at the 20-yard mark.

I think it's great that Eisen is participating in all of the combine activities.  I heard he did pretty well on the Wonerlic test as well, scoring something like a 35.  If anything, it's great for entertainment value alone.  I wish the 40 time didn't have so much of an influence on where players were drafted, but last year's fastest runner, Chris Johnson, seemed to have a lot more tools in the box to complement that speed.  A rare instance, but good to see it's not always a wasted statistic.

The simulcast technology is so cool, it really shows you how fast those 300lb lineman really are.

As a Michigan graduate, i think Eisen should get to the Wolverines spring work-outs and show the boys what's up.!!

I think that they should put all writers and sports talk people through the whole combine workout at least once in their life.

I like how they push the Under Armour shoes.  Did Under Armour think about having Eisen push their shoes before running a 7 second 40? "These shoes will make you run slower then a 300 pounder"
