Good thing the Houston Rockets signed rookie Donté Green to a contract earlier on Monday, because he rewarded them with a 40 point explosion later in the afternoon.

So when Tracy McGrady injures his back in February, Rockets fans can take comfort in knowing they might have a solid prospect capable of filling his shoes down the road.

I'm the first one to say, "It's only summer league, don't overreact," but 40 points on 12-of-20 shooting with five three-pointers is as solid as it gets, even if it's a scrimmage.

Kevin Love also got his NBA career underway with a performance that I believe will be very typical this season. A quiet, unassuming 18 points and 13 rebounds, pick-and-popping the opponents to death. Love picked up four fouls in the first quarter, but quickly adjusted to the style of play. One thing to keep note when judging these performances is that his Timberwolves summer league team may be the worst in Vegas.

Darrell Arthur keeps one-upping Mayo during the Grizzlies summer league action. Likely the biggest steal of the draft due to concerns about his health, the former Kansas Jayhawk is showing off his versatility and range. Last night he dropped another 23 points, while O.J. Mayo had a 5-for-17 shooting effort that we should start getting used to.

Danilo Gallinari Era also underway

Booed on draft night, New Yorkers could be heard booing from the other side of country after being a no-show in the first half. Gallinari rebounded to score all 14 points in the second half. Look out for Wilson Chandler the rest of the week (26 points).
