Roddy White Flashes "Free Mike Vick" T-Shirt After Touchdown
by CriticalFanatic CriticalFanatic | >7 days ago7 Comment Comments »

Am I missing something?

This continued support of Vick is cute and all, but I'm starting to find it sad his teammates and fans keep forgetting the facts. Mike Vick committed a federal crime, lied about it, then ended up admitting guilt and told the judge yesterday he was willing to deal with the consequences. He's not being unfairly punished. On a sad night for the Falcons organization, Roddy White and DeAngelo Hall embarrassed themselves further.

More appropriate, I'd like to see some fans bring "Free Our Offense" signs for the final home game.

I totally agree.  In fact, I won't be surprised if they are punished by the team for this display.  The fact is, Vick is guilty and is doing time for his guilt which he admitted.  So go ahead and visit the guy in prison, but don't make it seem like he is being wrongfully imprisoned or something like that.  It's just sad that this entire team instantly assumed they sucked when Vick disappeared, so they never even gave themselves a shot.

I appreciate that they support their not-quite-former-teammate, and like them I hope all turns out well for Vick.  However, last night was ridiculous, and looked even more ridiculous in light of the Redskin's recent tragedy.  It really was kind of sickening last night.

+1 thumbs upIts not what they're doing, its how they're doing it.  All they needed to do to show Vick support was to say in any interview that they are thinking of Vick.  That would've been the classy way to do it.  Free *name here* is reserved for those wrongly imprisoned, not those who agreed to it.

Being close friends and helping, or supporting would involve going to visit him in prison, or helping, and looking after his family while he's away.  What they did was grandstanding under the belief that he is innocent, when he is guilty and has admitted as much.  He doesn't deserve to be freed, he deserves to do his time, and hopefully emerge a changed man.  If the shirt said "We love and support you Mike Vick" different story.  The eye black I can deal with, it shows they are thinking of him, the shirt just shows ignorance.

He didn't flash an I support Mike Vick T-shirt.  He flashed a free Mike Vick t-shirt... implying he deserves to be 'freed' as if he's trapped somewhere... and not acknowledging the fact that he is a CRIMINAL.  He doesn't deserve anything other than what he received.  Support and Stupidity are not closely linked.
