Ron Artest Is A Reported Trade Target Of The Detroit Pistons

Please Let This Happen
7/22/08

Can you imagine John Elway suiting up for the Cleveland Browns? Reggie Miller playing for the Knicks? Jeter playing for the Red Sox? The mind shutters just at the thought.
The Earth would probably continue to spin if any of those trades were to happen, but there's one change of uniform that could end it all. The Big Boom Theory would no longer be just a theory.
Ron Artest in a Detroit Pistons uniform. It could happen, so says Sam Amick of the Sac Bee when analyzing the Kings' forward trade options:
Detroit: Could this be why Artest was so interested in interviewing brawl instigator John Green a while back? It would be a brilliant PR move if the Pistons were looking to put a package together for Artest. When Joe Dumars promised significant changes, I don't think anyone could have dreamt up this scenario.
And from what I was told from one source close to the Pistons, they are. I've yet to get this info from more than one person, so stay tuned. But much like the Mavs' situation, this could be one of those where the player the Kings want (perhaps Tayshaun Prince) would be different than the one offered (Jason Maxiell, anyone?). Pure speculation on my part in terms of the potential pieces.
I'd still call it a long shot, but could Detroit possibly forgive and welcome Artest into their home? After watching this infamous fight again, pretty sure The Palace of Auburn Hills would looks as empty as a General Motors plant on opening night.
