Strangely, Vodka and Red Bull Won't Improve Your High Jumping Ability
9/3/08
I'll be honest. There really isn't any reason to watch high jumping at all. It's just not that exciting of a sport. Or so I thought.
It seems that Russian Ivan Ukhov, one of the top high jumpers in the world, decided to show up for the recent Lausanne Grand Prix drunk on vodka and Red Bull. Now, while being drunk might make you a better pool player, it certainly doesn't make you a better high jumper.
Now, how do we know he was drunk? Well, aside from this video above of him jumping under the bar and then nearly falling asleep on the landing mat, Fanhouse dug up a Norwegian news article and roughly translated it.
The rest of us would drink Red Bull under competition, but a Swedish track official says one competitor drank the Red Bull with vodka. ...
Russian high jumper Ivan Ukhov is one of the top jumpers in the world , but he appeared drunk during the entire competition.

I guess the fact that Ukhov finished dead last in the competition also might suggest he was hammered.
All I know is that the drunk soccer ref from Belarus clearly approves.
