A Great Race and A Great Finish; Too Bad It Effectively Ends the Championship

Scott Dixon's clinical destruction of the IndyCar Series continued last night at Kentucky Speedway. He led the most laps again, seemingly the only driver not involved in a continous fight for position. However, Dixon and the rest of the field were forced to make one final pit stop. The only exception was Helio Castroneves, who tried to steal the win by saving fuel, all with Dixon closing fast. Helio came one corner short, and Dixon flew past for win #6 this year.
While it was a great race overall, the end result all but ends the championship. Dixon now leads Helio by 78 points with three races to go. Barring something majorly unforseen, the great finishes of the last two years will not happen.
It's still an uncertain time for the IndyCar Series. Nobody likes the 2009 schedule. Nobody is sure what to make of the deal with Versus. However, if the series can still produce races and finishes like last night, we know it's not all bad.
