I don't watch a whole lot of hockey, but I'm pretty sure I've never seen anything like this before. Sean Avery dancing in front of Martin Brodeur while the New York Rangers were on a 5-3 advantage, wildly waving his hands and stick in front of the goalie.
It was refreshing to hear the same thing from Martin Brodeur himself.
"I've been watching games for 33 years and I have .never seen anything like that in my life," Brodeur said. "If it's within the rules, it's within the rules. The official came over and said it probably wasn't something that should be done."Avery even managed to cap this stunt off with a goal. Hilarious AND effective.
Brodeur was even impressed, although he could hardly admit it.
"Nobody should have to play hockey with a stick an inch from your face," Brodeur said. "But it wasn't a bad play. While he was doing it, I couldn't see anything. The two misses were just luck, I couldn't see a thing."
