Aussie Rules football has always been a little rougher than your average game of soccer. Down in Australia, they do it a bit differently. It's more violent, and a mix between rugby and soccer from what I can tell.
Their toughness and aggression even seems to extend into their practices. The Carlton Blues were having a little scrimmage between teammates, and a couple players took it a little too far. Setanta O'hAilpin and Cameron Cloke got into a fight, with O'hAilpin definitely getting the better of it. Not only did he deliver what looked like a knockout punch, but he also kicked Cloke when he was already laying face down on the pitch.
A classy move, no doubt, and one that got him kicked out of that particular practice, as well as an indefinite suspension while the league investigates the incident.
Think football is violent here? Then you might not want to discover Aussie Rules. They're delightfully crazy over there.
