Skydiver Accidentally Lands At Duke's Football Field Instead Of North Carolina's Football Field

Wrong Stadium, Buddy
8/31/08
I know North Carolina and Duke are real close to each other, but still, I can't believe this actually happened.
Yesterday, North Carolina was scheduled to have the game ball delivered by skydivers for their opening game. But the ball never showed up. Why? The team in charge of floating the ball down from the sky landed at Duke's Wallace Wade Stadium instead.
Evidently, when the clouds eventually opened, the pilot thought they were over the correct stadium, and the skydivers jumped -- realizing only when they landed in Wallace Wade that they were in the wrong place.
Doh.
At the time, Duke was warming up for its game against James Madison, so needless to say, no one at the stadium had any clue what in the hell was going on.
Obviously, this was slightly embarrassing for UNC, but in reality, it's not that big of deal. After all, Duke football only averages about 10 people in the stands per game anyway.
