The Flyers Unofficial Mascot Shawn Hill the Dance Machine Has Saved the Team
READ MORE:
I'm not a big fan of hockey. I mainly watch it for the fights, if I ever watch it at all, which I don't. But if I was guaranteed a show like the one Shawn Hill puts on every night at Flyers games, I think I might start to get interested in hockey again.

Hill is basically the Flyers unofficial mascot, and even has his own MySpace page. He first came to the Flyers attention during the second half of the Flyers dreadful 06-07 season where they won only 22 games. And over the summer, he appeared in a Flyers internet ad campaign (thanks to the 700 Level for that info). Naturally people thought the Flyers were already mailing in the 07-08 season by featuring a fat dancing kid in an ad to fans, but guess what? The Flyers are one point out of first place in the Atlantic Division right now and already have more wins this season (26) than they did all of last year. Is it the dance moves that have propelled the Flyers to victory? I believe it is. So let's look at some of Shawn's best work.

Here's Shawn getting down to House of Pain at Sunday's game. Watch the classic "hair gel application" move.

Here he executes the tea pot pour with stunning precision.

Here's a montage of his best work from 2007. Truly, he has no equal.

And although this video sucks, here he is doing Thriller. If Michael Jackson were still somewhat sane, I'm sure he'd appreciate this.

And if you want to know how this all started, this is it right here. When he was recognized as the Fan of the Game in early 2007.

Sure, some of you will say Hill sets the dance movement back 20 years, and others of you will say he sets white guys dancing back 50 years. But I'm sure the Flyers don't mind at all.

And as for me, I have just one thing to say to Mr. Hill.

Dance on my brother, dance on.

I think arenas all over have some type of version of this guy. In L.A., we had Dancing Boy-----------who has since retired, but I am sure that when the Kings start winning he will come out of retirement.
