In case you missed it, the Olympics were this past weekend. Not the Beijing Olympics, but the Rural Olympics. Don't worry, they're just as weird as we're all expecting the Beijing Olympics to be.

The rather bizarre Rural Olympics started in Kila Raipur, Punjab in 1933. Since then they've been an annual event. Thousands of sportsmen and complete idiots dare-devils converge for the four day event in the dusty fields of a small village in the northern Indian state. And they do some crazy ass stuff.

Like what, you ask?

Well, how about blocking a sledgehammer to the gut with a rock, or pulling a car using only your teeth. And then there's my personal favorite, having a steel rod stuck into your groin repeatedly. Considering this event has been going on for 75 years, that's a lot of sore groins. So what do these guys win for taking such abuse? Uh, hopefully lots and lots of gold. Now let's see some of the events in action. Be sure to pay attention to the guy who's so excited he can't even hit the can for fear of missing an event. Now that's dedication.




Definitely quality material. But there's more. How about a guy getting run over by a tractor, in the name of sport, of course.

So we've got guys getting run over, one-legged guys pulling trucks with their teeth, and fans so pumped they dare not even take a dump for fear of missing an event.

I'm sorry Beijing. You've officially lost the title of "Best. Olympics. Ever."
