The Silent Pepsi Super Bowl Ad
1/26/08
I think most people are aware that Pepsi is going to have a minute long ad during the Super Bowl that is totally silent and features deaf employees of the company. Well, now you can see it before the Super Bowl. Below is the video.
The commercial was created by and features PepsiCo employees who are members of EnAble, an employee network whose mission is to promote a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
The commercial is based on a popular joke in the deaf community, which is that people who are engrossed in something like the Super Bowl are just as deaf as people who can't hear.
At least, that's what I think the joke is. If it isn't that, then I think it's that waking people up at night is funny. Which is definitely hilarious.
