I know some people out there might consider modern art to be something of a joke, like it's just people slinging paint at a canvas, but it's a little more complicated than that. Which is why this video clip annoys me. Buick now has its uber-pitchman Tiger Woods ready to appear in a series of commercials where he hit's golf balls into a canvas - for art! Or something stupid like that. I have a feeling that if Buick asked Woods to cluck like chicken he'd probably do it (for a nominal $40 million fee).
Anyway, these canvases suck as far as I'm concerned. It looks like Woods showed up, hit 5 balls into them, and said "Where's my check?" Good work, if you can get it. My favorite scene is at the end where some lady presents "Tiger Art" to a crowd, and when she pulls the sheet off the painting it looks like there's nothing on it. Which is more or less the case anyway.
I guess I should at least be nice for a moment and let you know the pictures will be auctioned off for charity. A charity to prevent loser corporations from turning their pitchmen into artists.
