I'm not sure what in God's name Tim McCarver is talking about here, but it has something to do with Charlie Manuel, slow-decision making, Confederate Civil War generals, and people from Virginia - even though Manuel is actually from West Virginia.
Needless to say, almost none of those things belong in any kind of serious baseball analysis whatsoever. I'm sure Manuel is even more pleased that McCarver compared him to generals that fought for slavery. Because if there's anyone you want to be compared to, it's people who fought for slavery.
