Tom Brady finally spoke out, after months of silence since his career ending injury suffered during the Patriots Week 1 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. He discussed Matt Cassel's success in his stead, the coaching changes in New England as Josh McDaniels moved on to coach the Broncos, the Super Bowl and even the election.
The way Brady talked, it sounded like he was looking forward to eventually coming back, but he wasn't optimistic that it would be terribly soon. He never came out and said it outright, but there was definitely the vibe that he might not be ready to return anything soon. We'll see what happens, but it was interesting to finally see Brady speak up.
I'm not saying that this is why he got hurt, but Brady wasn't 100% coming into the game where he got injured. Cassel has proved to be an extremely effective replacement, and I see no reason to rush things. Franchise Cassel, take the cap hit, and make sure the QB situation is figured out. There's no need at all to rush Brady, or make any rash moves. When he's 100%, give him a chance to prove that he's still got it. But no earlier.
