Torry Holt's Finger Is Permanently Crooked
NFL, Torry Holt

If This Is What You Get From Being A Wide Receiver For 10 Years, Count Me Out.

I was thinking about becoming an NFL WR. I'm 5'10", about 215 lb, and I run the 40 in about 5.5 seconds, so I definitely have all the tools. But Torry Holt has convinced me to give up my dream of becoming a wide receiver in the NFL. One look at his finger, and I have decided to skip the whole NFL thing, and just keep my typing fingers intact.

I've already watched this video like 4 times, and I cringe every time I see it. I'm not sure if I buy Holt's claim that it helps him catch the ball, but hey... more power to him.

So, you want to be an NFL WR? [Frumpzilla]

Well when his days in J'ville are done, Torry will be able to become some sort of mutant Vulcan on subsequent Star Trek movies and series remakes.

I'm not calling BS on Ronnie Lott, or that his finger got amputated.  I'm calling BS on you.  I think you'll repeat anything you hear in passing as fact.  I believe he had his finger amputated during the off-season due to an injury suffered during a game, just not during the game, on the sideline as you claim.  I'm sure if I asked Ronnie about that, he would not punch me in the face.  Here is a link that fully explains it:   http://www.justanswer.com/questions/dxp7-ronnie-lot-finger-amputated-play     BTW, check Wikipedia and Snopes.

First, I don't trust Wikipedia 100%. But you might be right. I'm old, sometimes I forget where I hear things. Could be that I heard it one way when it was really another way but I'm almost sure I heard at one time that they had to cut off part of his finger on the sideline during the game. Perhaps they did part of it during the game and then did what you are talking about afterward?

Meh, this pales in comparison to Ronnie Lott who had his finger cut off, on the sideline, so he could get back into the game. Now that is a man!

Having part of ya finger gone looks better than having a 90 degree protractor hand digit.

It's worse to me than Munoz but the only reason I can't stand Munoz's more is cause it's his pinky.  Either way that shit is horrible I'd rather block and have bad knees.

It's not just receivers, look at Anthony Munoz.

I don't know.....I might take a jacked up finger for a few years in exchange for a Super Bowl ring.

It's not like he can't (afford to) get it fixed after he's done playing.

You missed your calling dude.  5.5 could get you drafted by the Raiders.

My ring finger on my right hand has more of a pronounced curve than usual due to breaking it a couple of times (once sliding headfirst into home plate, the other a hit by pitch) but it doesn't even look remotely like that.  That's just grotesque.  Why doesn't he get it fixed?  Ugh.

I once ran the 40 in 5.5  Although mine stood for 5.5 minutes and the 40 was the 40 steps it takes from my bedoom to the bathroom.

I'm sure his wife has managed to make it useful in some fashion.... maybe not though

Pat, my theory is that 40 times are overrated, so you may still have a shot.

My high school football coach had it much worse.  Probably because he played defensive line in college and semi-pro until he was damn near 45 years old.

Man that's jacked up! More proof I couldn't make it in football. Bet he can give a mean fishhook though!

Not to mention he can't even give someone the bird in a serious manner now.
