Tour De France 2008 Preview
This Post Is Just An Excuse To Show You Dogs Getting Hit By Bikes
7/5/08

I know that none of you care about the Tour de France because we no longer have Lance Armstrong dominating those puny Europeans year after year. Heck, we don't even have a 'roided up Floyd Landis to root for. But that said, the Tour is still one of the all time great events in sports, and it deserves a modicum attention.
The favorites for this year's race are four guys you've never heard of. They are:
Cadel Evans 12/5
Alejandro Valverde 4/1
Denis Menchov 15/2
Damiano Cunego 13/1
Andy Schleck 14/1
None of them are American, and there is no returning champion in this year's race for the third straight year. In fact, I'm not even sure who won last year's Tour de France. All I know is that Floyd Landis only a few days ago lost his final appeal that could have given him the 2006 title. Nothing like taking two years to decide a champion.
In fact, the real bet should be how many of this years favorites test positive for doping. My guess would every one.
As for who you can root for, we only have four Americans over there even though a US rider has won 10 of the last 22 Tour de Frances (and that's not including Landis). The four Americans are George Hincapie, Christian Vande Velde, Danny Pate and Will Frischkorn. None are a threat to do much of anything, unfortunately.
Anyway, because I'll bore you with anymore talk of cycling, let's just get to what you came here for - highlights of stupid French dogs getting hit by bikes from last year's tour. At least the dogs are braver than the French Army.
