About your hosts: If you're new to the site or don't know Debi, make no mistake - she's no Vancouver Canucks fan. She is a Canuck though - and a fan of the Calgary Flames. BK is a Pittsburgh Penguins fan and I'm a fan of the Anaheim Ducks.
The NHL scheduling is making me look forward to Tuesdays. Another 10 games tonight, with loads of great hockey to watch. Below is the schedule, including channel broadcasts. As always, all times are eastern:
Game: Hurricanes (6-4-1) @ Devils (8-1-3)
Broadcast: FS-CR, MSG Plus
BK's Pick: You would make me pick this one by myself, dammit Jess! The Canes are playing great on this road trip, but even though it pains me, the Devils are just too good, and that regulation loss against the Pens is looking like a fluke more and more every day,
NJ wins this one on home ice.
Game: Rangers (6-5-0) @ Bruins 8-1-1)
Broadcast: NBCSN, MSG, NESN
Jess's Pick: The Bruins are on fire this year again, but I can't pick against New York. Call me a sucker.
BK's Pick:First team to score a PP goal wins...umm,
Game: Sabers (5-7-1) @ Senators (6-4-2)
Broadcast: MSG-B, SNET-E
BK's Pick: Sabres are too inconsistent, Sens win.
Game: Habs (6-4-1) @ Lightning (6-5-0)
Broadcast: RDS, TSN, SUN
BK's Pick: The Bolts are at home where they're damn near perfect, Lightning win this one.
Game: Capitals (3-8-1) @ Panthers (4-6-1)
Broadcast: CSN-DC, FSN-F
Jess's Pick: With these two dumpster fires, (sorry gearhead), I see a great game of unintentional hilarity. Either that or it will be the most exciting game of the night. Caps win.
BK's Pick: Both teams currently suck, and the Caps have yet to win on the road...that changes tonight. Caps win.
Game: Flyers (5-7-1) @ Jets (5-5-1)
Broadcast: CSN-PH, TSN-JETS
BK's Pick: The Flyers are pretty good at home, but terrible on the road. Watch them win because I hate them. That said, I'm still picking the Jets.
Game: Sharks (7-3-2) @ Predators (5-3-4)
Broadcast: CSN-CA, FSN-TN
Jess's Pick: Both of these teams lost their last game, and will be looking to bounce back tonight. While the Sharks are the better team, I think that the Predators get the win.
BK's Pick: The Sharks just los to COLUMBUS last night...badly! Preds win this one.
Game: Ducks (8-2-1) @ Blackhawks (10-0-2)
Broadcast: PRIME, CSN-CH
BK's Pick: This is going to be the game of the night! Both of these teams are playing incredible hockey to start the season! Chicago has to lose in regulation sometime, and this is only their third home game of the year...will they be flat coming home? Jess, if I pick Chicago to keep it going, will reverse psychology apply for your Ducks, leading to the end of the Hawks' regulation perfection? I hope it does, so I'm going with the Hawks and hoping I'm wrong!
Jess's Fan Notes: I hope so! I'm scared to death for this game, but I'm excited. The Blackhawks are obviously an amazing team, but I can only hope they're due for an off game. The Ducks snapped the Sharks regulation win streak...
Game: Stars (6-5-1) @ Oilers (5-4-3)
Broadcast: FS-SW, SNET-W
BK's Pick: Both teams are treading water, but I still don't have enough confidence in Edmonton, Stars win on the road.
Game: Wild (6-5-1) @ Canucks (7-2-2)
Broadcast: TSN, FS-N, FS-WI
Jess's Pick: What is going on in Vancouver? I never know from one day to the next who their "starting" goalie is. Yes, we know backups get ice time regularly but with the Canucks, have they really named a starter or a backup? Anyway, regardless of who's in net, I think that Vancouver's Sedin Twins and their consistent offense take this win at home over the Wild and their $$ twins.
BK's Pick: Yes the Canucks have goaltending issues. However, Minnesota stinketh on the road, and the Canucks are 7-2-2. I think they have their act together. Vancouver wins the night cap.
And we can't forget the kickoff (or is it faceoff?) video from our friends at NHL.com! Let's look at some of the best from last night:
