I know that hockey shootouts can be tough on goalies. I mean, you spend 60 minutes blocking shots, then 5 minutes of overtime doing the same thing, but then just like that the whole game can be decided on one freaking breakaway. It'll mess with your mind, to say the least.
Just ask Tuukka Rask. He's the 22-year-old netminder for the Boston Bruins AHL affiliate club, the Providence Bruins. Rask lost his damn mind after a shootout loss to the Albany River Rats on Friday night after the ref ruled that River Rats forward Harrison Reed scored the eventual game-winner in the shootout. Rask kinda sorta thought the puck hit the post as opposed to the ref who thought it managed to catch some net.
Rask was not pleased by the refs decision, which cost the Bruins the game, and he provided a meltdown that Lou Piniella and Bobby Knight would be proud of. I have no idea who was actually right, the ref or Rask, but I'll go with the guy who was willing to throw the milk crate. Thrown milk crates always mean business.
