Dare I say it....the Vikings SHOULD trade Adrian Peterson, yes the best running back in the league needs to be playing for a different team. The Vikes ship is lacking some functioning sails and right now the only person moving the vessel at all is AD paddling with an oar. There's no captain, there's no first mate, there's no...(this sounds more like a Buccaneers analogy) but you get my point.
Ponder isn't terrible, he's middle of the road, he's pedestrian, average---fair, he's eh. In the right situation he can thrive but really there's nothing about him that makes me say “wow”, besides his wife who is an absolute smoke show, props to him for that. On a more serious note the Vikings should look to move him to a team in need of a quarterback and with only four days left until the deadline they should do it fast. This offseason the Vikings need to get their priorities in order.
Unless Freeman shows the team otherwise, he should not be with the Vikings next season, or bring him in for a competition with a rookie quarterback. Speaking of which they will most likely have a top ten pick come May(I hate the draft is that late) and should be looking quarterback. There are a slew of quarterbacks in this class and they need to draft one of them with that early pick. If they do manage to trade Peterson they better get two first round picks, at the minimum, dude is a beast. By doing this, the front office can set their organization up for success for an entire decade.
The defense needs work as well. It can stop the run(14th in the league) but the D gets torn up against the pass, which is due in part to a lack of a pass rush. This rebuild is not going to be done just by drafting well in May, it is going to take two to three years. Sorry Vikings fans, your team is going to stink for only a few more years. On the bright side, the Purple People Eaters have some of the coolest uniforms in the NFL, just sayin'.
No need to get a kicker though!
It would be great for the NFL if AD is traded to a larger market team. I wonder if his brand is hurting by it being in Minneapolis? Anyway to wrap up my argument, Peterson can't win games by himself every single week and the Vikings aren't really in a position to win any time soon. By dealing him they can get very high draft picks and set themselves up for success. This draft is absolutely filled to the rim with talent, the time to move him is now. If the team really likes Ponder, leave him on as a backup. Plus, his wife will still be around as eye candy(I'm 20 years old sorry). It's a shame that players don't stay with one team as often as they used to but this is a business and the best business move is to part ways with number 28.
