Vikings vs. Packers Re-Match Wild Card Weekend
Adrian Peterson, fresh off an ACL repair last season, rushed for 2,000+ yards this season without blinking as he led his team into contention for a playoff spot - but their young quarterback Christian Ponder stepped up on the big stage throwing for three touchdowns, one to AP and the Vikings were able to set up a game-winning field goal from 29 yards out to send them to the postseason.
However, because the Packers lost, they lose home-field to the 49ers and require a first-round matchup in the Wild Card round. Their prize? The opportunity to host a rematch with the Vikings in Lambeau Field.
There is no better matchup in the WC round next weekend as not only do these two teams have a historic rivalry within their division, but it is amplified due to what just happened in yesterdays game. Adrian Peterson made the play at every crucial moment to push the Vikings over the top and vaulted into the NFC postseason.
Aaron Rodgers played very well and their run game was surprisingly effective, however, their banged up defense is far from Super Bowl ready. Clay Matthews is not 100% and he re-injured himself on Sunday. Charles Woodson hasn't played in a few months and could return this upcoming weekend. But their strength is on the offensive side of the ball.
If the Packers O-line can find it within them to consistently protect their quarterback, the Pack will avenge their Week 17 loss and move on in the playoffs. If Rodgers hasn't the time to find his receivers down field, the Vikings may steal the show in Lambeau.
Packers 28, Vikings 20.
