This is part of what has endeared people to Scully for years. He has an excitement for the game of baseball that many of us haven't had since we were kids. He does play-by-play for Dodgers games as if it was his first, relaying that enthusiasm to the fans.

Magic Johnson, who has solidified himself as an LA icon, said:

"It was a treat to be able to listen to Chick Hearn through my years with the Lakers. And it's been great to be able to listen to Vin work his magic in the broadcast booth since I came to Los Angeles in 1979. Generations of Angelenos have been blessed to have these Hall of Famers in their midst."

Vin Scully rules. I'm not from Los Angeles. So back in the day, my only  exposure to him was on NBC in the 1980's. He is like a fine wine. Who cares that he's been there 64 + years. Everything he does is natural and not a forced, schtick.
