Don't laugh -- Vince Young has signed with the Green Bay Packers
Terms of the contract were not disclosed. But if I were the Packers, I would put it into Young's contract that he is never allowed to use the term "dream team" when speaking with the media.
ESPN's Josina Anderson broke the news that Vince Young has signed with the Green Bay Packers. Young will compete with Graham Harrell (two career NFL completions) and B.J. Coleman (zero career NFL completions) for the privilege of backing up Aaron Rodgers.
Last we saw of Vince Young, he was getting cut by the Bills in training camp last season after falling behind Tyler Thigpen on the depth chart. The season before, Young has a terrible turn filling in for Michael Vick with the Eagles. It's easy to forget Young is a two-time Pro Bowler and former Madden cover boy.
The timing couldn't be better for Young. Less than two weeks ago, Young's home was raided by Houston deputies over a loan default, and Young's possessions were put up for auction. His former financial advisor claims that that the loan on which he defaulted went to pay for a $300,000 birthday party. (Young disputes this version of events.) In Young's defense, he did go back to the University of Texas to get his degree this Spring.
If the Packers win the Super Bowl this year with Young on the roster, Green Bay fans might be able to buy Young's championship ring for an extremely reasonable price.
