Analysts believe Visa has taken a big step forward into the development of soccer in United States. Media came to knowledge about the situation early Monday morning when news broke out of Visa extending their relationship with Soccer United Marketing (SUM).
Soccer United Marketing has played a leading role in American soccer over the past couple of years. They are linked with major American soccer teams throughout the continent. They encompass around a variety of properties however Visa will probably be concerned about their face on soccer in North and Latin America.
If an agreement is inked then Visa will continue to provide services as the medium of official payments for Major League Soccer (MLS), US Soccer and the Mexican national team’s US tour during 2014. This will give Visa a unique hold over promotion and sponsorships in American soccer.
In the aftermath of the deal Visa will also continue to receive exclusive promotional rights at annual MLS special events. They will also gain onsite promotional rights when Mexican and US national team come to USA for action.
All the good news is not just for Visa but also for Visa cardholders. During the contract period Visa cardholders will gain priority access to matches and receive chances to experience special exclusive events.
Head of North America marketing for Visa Inc., Alex Craddock informed, “The recent FIFA World Cup performance by the US men’s national team in South Africa and the women’s national team in Germany has helped increase consumer interest in soccer in the US. As the US men’s national team prepares for Brazil 2014, the renewed SUM sponsorship agreement which supports Visa’s FIFA partnership, will help connect Visa and our clients to a multicultural and passionate soccer fan base across the USA. We continue to invest in sponsorship properties that deliver tangible and proven business building benefits to Visa, its clients and partners.”
President of Soccer United Marketing, Kathy Carter was also present to add her comments, she said, “Visa has been a great worldwide supporter of the sport of soccer. We are thrilled to have Visa extend their domestic relationship with the beautiful game through the continuation of the partnership with MLS, US Soccer and the FMF (Mexican Football Federation).”
So far the financial details of the deal have not been revealed. According to sources an official press conference later this week will be the key to more information.
