WFAN radio host Joe Benigno goes off on Matt Harvey for no reason whatsoever

Joe Benigno is angry at Matt Harvey because… why, exactly?

Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY SportsAlong with afternoon snoozefest Mike Francesa, WFAN radio host Joe Benigno is one more example of a radio host in New York who was probably just taken randomly off the street and asked to spew nonsense about New York sports to an audience of millions.

Benigno's latest spat of ridiculousness was his rant about Matt Harvey attending the Knicks game in court side seats with his supermodel girlfriend Anne V.

It's hard to tell exactly why Benigno was upset with Harvey, but the issue appears to be that Harvey isn't Tom Seaver, and therefore shouldn't be allowed to be seen in public with his girlfriend.

No, seriously. That's Benigno's problem. Since Harvey has only played two seasons and then got injured and will miss next year, he's apparently not allowed to be seen in public. Never mind the fact that he was probably given the seats by the team, he never really asked to be shown on TV, and it's not like the injury was his fault or something that he wanted to happen.

Here's Benigno's asinine rant. Enjoy:

It all makes sense now. Thank you. I'm almost shocked that WFAN would do something like that... but then again, they're the station that still employs Francesa, so... yeah.

Without Francesa, we're relegated to Michael Kay and the likes of Benigno and Roberts. We need to keep Francesa healthy and working.

He was taken randomly off the street! He was a frequent caller who was part of a group of listeners who were up for the overnight gig. Francesa made the decision as to who got the job. On the one hand, I wouldn't want to give him the publicity. On the other hand, a vastly greater number of people will realize what an imbecile he is.
