I'll let the fine people at Royals Review break the news to you:
The Royals are 3-0. Deal with it, America.
And no, this isn't the second time in twenty eight years thats happened -- as was reported on Baseball Tonight, last night, about 2-0 -- it's the second time in five years actually.
Someone call Desi Relaford, Ken Harvey and Michael Tucker.
This is all true. The Kansas City Royals are the only undefeated team in Major League Baseball after a clean sweep of the World Series favorite Detroit Tigers.
The vaunted Tigers lineup has just 5 runs thus far. Miguel Cabrera has a quadriceps strain, Gary Sheffield tore a tendon on his left ring finger, and Brandon Inge is the hot bat right now. It's not going well in Detroit. It's still clearly a little early to panic, but Jim Leyland wants to make one thing clear: "We stunk."
I suspect the Tigers will overcome the CriticalFanatic World Series jinx this evening against the White Sox.
Elsewhere yesterday: As we mentioned late afternoon, Reds rookie Johnny Cueto was the star of the day striking out 10 in his MLB debut. Expectations were already high, now he's got the entire city fawning all over him ... Phillies finally get on the board with a bottom of the 10th riveting walk-off walk ... Xavier Nady continues to lead the Pirates to a solid start and a series win in Atlanta ... Torii Hunter homers in his return to Minnesota, Angels leave 3-1.
