Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsThe Washington Nationals didn't take very long to complete their managerial search, settling on their original top candidate Matt Williams.

Williams doesn't have any managerial experience on the big league level, but he has served as the Diamondbacks' third base coach since 2010.

Williams had a long career in baseball as a player, playing third base for the Giants and Diamondbacks, as well as a brief stint with the Indians.

As a player, Williams led the league in HR in 1994, when he came in 2nd in NL MVP voting. He was a 4-time Gold Glove winner and a 5-time All Star.

We'll see if Williams is able to gain the respect of the Nationals players, who were reportedly rallying for bench coach Randy Knorr to get the job.

What do you think... was this a good hire by the Nationals?
