About Me:
Um . . . there's really nothing terribly interesting about me. Then again, there's nothing wonderfully interesting about me! Haha. Let's see, I'm a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and I work as an Assistant Court Clerk at the Shoshone-Bannock Tribal Courts in Fort Hall, Idaho. I'm OBSESSED with WWE. John Cena has my heart! I never really used to be a Red Sox fan. I liked the Yankees. Then, when the Sox won in '04, I decided to look into them a little more. I fell head over heels. I was practically salivating when they won last year. If anything ever happens to Cena, Pap's my next love! And . . . . that's pretty much it. I don't wanna give too much away.

Or so I like to think. I wrote this little blog on my page at sawxheads. And instead of posting a link, I'll just show you what I said:
Bandwagon Fans
So, I've been reading a lot of pissed off posts about Bandwagon Fans. . . .
I guess it shouldn't really surprise me that the die- hard, crust of the earth Sox fans can't stand people who only became BoSox fans after their WS win in '04. And of course, for anyone who has read my profile, I clearly state that I didn't become a huge fan of the Sox until their '04 season.
But it doesn't make me a fair-weather fan. I never really used to be in to baseball, then I started watching games and got into them. Eventually, I found myself hoping a certain team would win.
Then came the Series. I thought, "Okay, here's my chance to watch 2 hugely popular teams I know virtually nothing about, and see if I can really sit through this and pick someone I like solely based on skill."
That's when I fell for the Sox. I saw their passion, their determination. The fact that they were so solid. To me, the Yankees are very self-involved. Almost all of they players buy into their own hype and come game time, all they seem to focus on is how to make that front page shot, instead of being in the game play-by-play.
Now, I may not know all there is to know about baseball or the Sox, but I love the game and I LOVE the team. It doesn't matter to me that I am considered a Bandwagon Fan. I have enormous respect for the "Forever Fans" and hopefully a day will come when us "Bandwagon Fans of '04" can just be called "Fans".
P.S. Love my blog or hate it, it's mine and it's there.
Luv RM
So, there it is. My futile attempt to be accepted by the "Nation". But I want to say, it doesn't just pertain to Sox fans. Some of you know how I feel. Some of us were dragged into watching sports with our boyfriends or fathers, but some of us (i.e. me) found the games fascinating. We saw a team we liked (probably at one of their high-points in a season) and we began to follow them. Now, the home-town or die-hard fans will call us "Bandwagon Fans". Okay. Fine. I take no offense. But it doesn't mean that I only loved the Sox in the few months after the '04 season and then started up again when they won in '07. I became a fan. I wanted to learn more about them. I'm still learning. I'm not gonna pretend that I'm this huge sports fan who knows everything there is to know about all sports. I'll freely admit that I only know a few general things here and there about certain sports. I'll go to high school basketball, football and baseball games. I'll watch what I can on T.V. and try to learn by asking questions.
I do have a preference to baseball and to the Sox and I'm sure some Yankees fans are gonna come after me and have something to say which is fine. The Yankees/Red Sox rivalry is, in my mind, unprecedented. I don't have a problem with Yankees fans. I'll admit, I was one. But, to me, they lost their heart.
Of course, there will be that base of "Forever Fans" who will despise "Bandwagon Fans" almost as much as they despise Yankee fans, but that's okay to me. I love all my BoSox fans. Past, present and future.
