How will the backup quarterbacks fare this week? [NFL Sunday Live Thread]
Ravens @ Steelers
This should be a very good game between these teams. When these 2 teams meet, it's like watching a heavyweight fight. The Baltimore Ravens dumped the Oakland Raiders 55-20 winning their second straight game in the row, Even though the Ravens are 26th in stopping the run and stopping the passing and 27th in total yards defense, they are 13th in scoring defense... The Ravens' offense has been alot better putting up 28 points per game which makes them 4th in scoring offense in the league. Joe Flacco has stepped up offensively in the absence of Ray Lewis along with Ravens' RB Ray Rice, and Ravens' WRs Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin and Jacoby Jones. As for the Pittsburgh Steelers, they narrowly beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football and Big Ben Roethlisberger was injured in that game that affected his right shoulder, if Big Ben doesn't play this week, this could be a major concern for the steelers' offense especially with the running game that hasn't been better this year.(21st in Running the Ball) Big Ben has been the heartbeat for the Steelers' offense especially with the Steelers' 4 game winning streak. The Steelers may be #1 and total yard defense and stopping the pass but if the Steelers struggle to put points on the board with Byron Leftwich, (Backup Steelers QB) the Steelers may be put in position where they could lose some games down the stretch after this matchup with the Ravens even if Big Ben was to play on Sunday Night Football he may not be 100% healthy. The Steelers will see a totally different Ravens team that loves to light up the scoreboard. I love the Pittsburgh Steelers but it comes a time where you have to be critical about your favorite teams going through roadbumps. Ravens over Steelers
MNF Bonus Pick:
Bears @ Niners
The Chicago Bears had their 6-game winning streak snapped against the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football on Week 10 as they regroup and head to San Francisco to face the San Francisco 49ers that played the NFC West foe St. Louis Rams that resulted in a draw. When the Bears played the Texans on Sunday Night football, we learned that the Bears' offense is capable of struggling against another defense that can be as good as the Bears' defense especially when it comes to putting points on the board. What do the 49ers and the Bears have in common? Not only they are good on defense but they both have starting quarterbacks that suffered a concussion and may be doubtful to play on Monday Night Football. That means Jason Campbell may start to replace Jay Cutler for the Bears and Colin Kaepernick who is capable of being a mobile quarterback will start to replace Alex Smith. This will be an offensive struggle for both the Bears and the 49ers and we should expect a low scoring affair, I believe the Bears' offense will continue to struggle getting the ball into the endzone as they face a 49ers' team this is stingy when it comes to giving up points, (1st in scoring defense) also they are 3rd in total yards defense, 5th in stopping the pass and 7th in stopping the run. The 49ers' offense will be challenged as well as they face the NFL's #2 scoring defense and the Bears's 4th ranked defense will be ready to prevent 49ers' RB Frank Gore for having a big game. This game will also come down to how many turnovers each team will have in this game, the team with the fewest turnovers will win this game on Monday Night Football. Also the 49ers' defense should have the hometown crowd rooting for them to play better which may play a factor into why the bears' offense will continue to struggle scoring points at Candlestick Park. 49ers over Bears
Jess: Ugh. Niners.
