Not much has changed since last week's Power Rankings, when the Titans topped the list, followed by the Giants. However, the Steelers' loss to the Colts shakes things up a bit, so here's this weeks top 10 and bottom 5. Be sure to vote for how you think the teams should be ranked at this point in the season.
Without further ado...
The Top 10:
Another week, another win for the Titans. In a week where their running game wasn't on par, Kerry Collins stepped up and delivered a win against a tough Bears team in Chicago. Winning teams pick each other up, and that's what happened.
It was ugly, but the Giants came away with a division win on the road. Ugly or not, those are huge wins. Brandon Jacobs is an absolute beast, and this team is showing signs that they have a great chance to repeat.
Jake Delhomme was awful. 26% completion rate against the Raiders, and 4 INT's. Against anyone else, they'd lose. If not for the Steelers loss, they would have dropped a spot after this one. But for now, I'll be lenient.
The bye week was friendly to the Redskins, and the Steelers' loss moves them up essentially by default. Look for a strong performance next Sunday against a reeling Cowboys team, with or without Clinton Portis.
Their win over the 49ers was closer than it should have been, but they remain perfect at home, and have a 4 game division lead. That's ridiculous. Kurt Warner is giving me flashbacks to the Greatest Show on Turf.
The loss to the Colts hurt them, but they're still the favorite to pick up the #2 seed in the AFC. It will be useless, however, if they can't get healthy. This team seems cursed this year, and now Willie Parker may not return at all.
Matt Ryan is looking like a lock for Rookie of the Year, and the Falcons have a very real chance of continuing the worst-to-first phenomenon in the AFC South. A win over the Panthers in 2 weeks could do the trick.
Another team that benefited from their bye week, the Bucs move up 2 spots in my rankings after a week off. They host Minnesota next week, and hopefully they can protect Jeff Garcia better than the Packers did for Aaron Rodgers.
The Ravens are now tied for the division lead with the Steelers, after destroying the Texans in Houston. Tough game coming up against the Giants, but if there's a team that can stop Brandon Jacobs, it's probably this one.
Even without Brady, the Pats remain the favorites in the AFC East. Matt Cassel continues to improve, but how will they handle the injury to Adalius Thomas? He was arguably their best defensive player, and a freakish athlete.Bottom 5:
They nearly escaped from this list with a close call in Miami, but in typical fashion, weren't able to pull it off. This time, a flea flicker and a failed 2 point conversion spelled doom for the 'Hawks, who find new ways to lose every week.
During their bye week, the Bengals watched Herm Edwards play to LOSE the game, and half the Raiders team quit on them. By doing nothing at all, they jumped 2 spots in my rankings. Someone give Marv Lewis an extension.
What a nightmare. They're dumping some guys, others don't feel like playing hurt, and others don't feel like playing for the Raiders at all. What's next, Jeff George? This team had potential with Lane Kiffin, but now it's a train wreck.
Since "playing to win the game" failed miserably for Herm Edwards, he's trying a new strategy: playing to lose. He's much better at this one, since he has had years of practice in his coaching career. Herm sucks.
The latest and greatest in Detroit? Drew Stanton cherry-picking for Daunte Culpepper. Not surprisingly, this didn't work either. However, maybe Stanton is the answer there at QB, if they ever let him play full time.
