Who Will Survive Week 16 With Their Playoff Hopes Intact? [Week 16 NFL Live Thread]

12/27/09 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5229 respect

You won't see me commenting on the live thread today, because I'll be at Gillette Stadium, watching the Patriots hopefully clinch the AFC East with a win against the Jaguars. However, Maurice Jones-Drew could shred them for a couple hundred yards, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit.

There are a bunch of games with playoff implications, but one of the biggest games today will be the Ravens-Steelers matchup. The two division rivals are both on the playoff bubble, with the Ravens currently holding a one-game edge. A win for them would virtually lock up a playoff spot, and eliminate the defending champ Steelers. The Texans-Dolphins game is also a virtual elimination game. We'll see who emerges from the rubble, especially in the incredibly crowded AFC.

To see which games are available in your area, check your local TV programming, or the ridiculously awesome distribution maps, courtesy of The506. Here's the schedule:

1:00
Jaguars at Patriots
Chiefs at Bengals
Texans at Dolphins
Bills at Falcons
Raiders at Browns
Panthers at Giants
Seahawks at Packers
Ravens at Steelers
Buccaneers at Saints

4:00
Lions at 49ers
Rams at Cardinals
Broncos at Eagles
Jets at Colts

If you're watching the games, chat it up with us here throughout the afternoon. Don't forget to make your picks on our NFL Pick 'Em Page before it's too late, and as always, enjoy the games!

Glad to see SF win a meaningless game.... I'd much rather they start Nate Davis at this point in the season so we can see what he can do. We already know what SF has in Hill and Smith. They need to figure out if they need to use their two 1st round picks on a QB next year or not.

Hey can you check with the powers that be about this weeks fantasy games?  All my teams only have 2 WR's on them instead of 3-  what happened?

Links to the game(s) please.

Why ask a question like that? Yes, I'm surprised. Defense played great all day, Charles ran for another 100 yards, and they all played well enough to win. They didn't. Should I just expect my team to lose every time because they aren't that great this season?

You're not surprised the Colts lost, are you?
You're not surprised the Vols lost 5 times this year, are you?
You're not surprised the Jayhawks lost 7 times in a row, are you?

Look out NFC Playoffs- here come the Dallas Cowboys!   Dallas 14-0  2nd qtr!

Vin, they absolutely SHOULD win tonight in DC, there's no excuse for a loss to this lousy Redskins team.

Steelers Came into the last 2 games to show that they are playoff contenders.....Just Look at thier losses all but 2 were luck of the flip of a coin  I don't know if they will be there for the big dance but they should be in the hunt. Troy is a domanate factor in the Defence but there are 10 other guys that have started to pull together and do there jobs......

I understand about not wanting to get any players hurt and I agree about looking at the bigger picture as far as the ultimate goal being to win the Super Bowl but looking at the faces of the Colts players on the sidelines, you can tell they arent exactly happy about how this whole thing is going down.  You would have to agree that this is a crappy way for an undefeated streak to come to an end

Well NO athlete wants to lose and they all would like to go undefeated Im sure. But the Colts have been there and are a veteran team. I dont think it will bother them like it would some (or most). They want another ring, PERIOD!

I sympathize with ya Joe. But if any of the Colts key players were to get injured in the final 2 games....death threats may overwhelm AT&T in Jim Caldwell's direction. I know Id place a call or 2.

Indeed they are. Gametime speed seems to be a bit faster than practice field speed for Painter! LOL

Somewhere, there are a group of Ol' Dolphins gathered around a TV and High Fiving each other.

Maybe Painter forgot there are no RED shirts in games.
