Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open ThreadWelcome to our first installment of FanIQ's NFL Sunday Pre-game Show and Open Game Thread!

Starting today, our live threads for football Sunday will open up with some insight on each game, with weekly special guests - You! At FanIQ, we like to challenge the "experts", and who better to go up against the celebrity blow-hards than the fans? And instead of pretending to be fair and unbiased, we are allowed - and encouraged - to let our fan flags fly.

This week we pick Sid's brain (Sharp_Square), and he'll be briefly breaking down the games and giving his picks. Of course I'm not being let off the hook - I'll be making my picks and giving thoughts for all to see as well.

Without further ado, let's get down to business.

1:00pm GamesBlog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open ThreadSid: Rams are coming off a home win vs. the Skins, but hard to see them beating the Bears this week, especially at Soldier Field. Bears got embarrassed last week at Green Bay and will be looking to rebound. Pick: Bears

Jess: I agree - the Rams have a lot of great pieces falling together right now, and Fisher has been turning this team around, but the Bears are hungry and at home. Not a good combo for a young inconsistent opposing team. Pick: Bears

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Seems like Browns young talent may finally have them starting to turn the corner but still have a ways to go. Bills have been Jekyll and Hyde first couple weeks and this won't be an easy one on the road in Cleveland. But they are still a step ahead of the young Browns and barring a pile of turnovers should leave with a win. Pick: Bills

Jess: I don't know a lot about either of these teams, but I'm picking the Bills here too. They put up good numbers in both weeks one and two. I look for them to do the same this week. Pick: Bills

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Bucs blew a big lead against the G-men last week and now travel to play an inconsistent as always Cowboys team. Bucs themselves may be struggling to be consistent and going on the road to Dallas after they laid an egg last week in Seattle may be a tough spot. Setting up for one of the Cowboy's upswing games. Pick: Cowboys

Jess: This one's tricky, as both teams are coming off tough losses and both are bi-polar. If this game wasn't in Dallas I would pick the Bucs, but I just can't see Dallas losing this game at home. Pick: Cowboys

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: This seems to be a real close matchup between two teams trying to get back to being winners. MJD as we all know can be a game changer for the Jags but their passing game needs some work, although the secondary of Colts may help some there. Going with home team here and young QB Luck to keep improving in one that's real close to call. Pick: Colts

Jess:
Jags and Colts always put on a good show, but I think the Colts are getting it going and the Jags are struggling with leadership, chemistry, and morale, on and off the field. Pick: Colts

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: This Dolphins team is a scrappy bunch and Reggie Bush is off to a great start showing how versatile he can be. And who knows which Jets team and which Sanchez will show up this week? But seems like Jets have enough to rebound and win a tough one on the road in Miami. Pick: Jets

Jess: Aha! Finally one we disagree on. I think that the Dolphins win this one, keeping it on the ground. The Jets are still a confused mess, and the Phins are at home. Pick: Dolphins

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: The 49ers have started off hot out of the gate and are playing solid and hard nosed football. Vikings seem to be one of those run of the mill teams that flash some signs of solid play but can't put 4 solid quarters together. Niners have to guard against a letdown here on the road but will take a surprise effort from Vikes. Pick: 49ers

Jess: Ugh.

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: The Saints have been terrible so far and especially on the Defensive side of things where some flag football teams field more talent. Chiefs have some play-makers on offense and could exploit this weak Saints D. But Saints really need a win and at home sitting at 0-2, this is an almost must-have game, so I look for them to wake up and finally win one. Pick: Saints

Jess:
Part of me wonders if the Saints are going to be that team that gets halfway through the season without winning a game, while another part of me thinks there's no way Brees will let that happen. I'm going to go with the former here, just to be obnoxious, Sid. Pick: Chiefs

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Titans are rebuilding behind their young QB and having a lot of problems running the ball, which don't make for a very good mix. Lions need more consistent play from the QB position also but have enough to get past the Titans here even on the road as they try and find a groove. Pick: Lions

Jess: I like the Titans in this game for no real reason other than the facts that Stafford seems to be having troubles, and Chris Johnson's got to have one good game this year, right? Pick: Titans

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: This Skins team seems to be a work in progress on both sides of the ball. Their dynamic rookie QB having his ups and downs and some early injuries making them a bit inconsistent. Can see Bengals and their young play-makers on offense get a win on the road here as underdogs as long as their D can contain the Skins run game. Pick: Bengals

Jess: I think the Skins will have a lot of ups and downs this year, and I think this week will be another up. Griffin will have a good game at home. Pick: Redskins

4:00pm Games
Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Who would have thought the Cards would be one of the teams being talked about early on for winning? Well this is likely the week that they come back down to earth some and their questionable QB play gets exposed. Eagles have had their own troubles at QB with Vick being a turnover machine and highly overrated, but they have fought through it to get a couple close wins. Looks like another favorable matchup and another spot for an Eagles win. Pick: Eagles

Jess:
This game has been the talk of my house over the last several days. Obviously I would love to see the Eagles take this one on the road, but I'm nervous about it. Both of these teams have benefited from luck, penalties, bad play by opposing teams - neither are as good as their records, in my opinion. I'm going to pick the Eagles and cross my fingers really hard. It should be an interesting game.

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Short week for Falcons and have to travel to west coast, which is always a tough spot in the NFL, which is why the undefeated Falcons are dogs this week. Chargers have played well this season but have yet to be tested by a real quality team and the Chargers always scare me as favorites. Falcons have been great on offense so far, and even though they have holes on defense, I think they get a couple of turnovers and win a close one out west. Pick: Falcons

Jess: I can't wait to see what this Falcons defense does to Philip Rivers. Pick: Falcons

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Texans have been great so far and are one of the top teams in the league without a doubt, but it's never easy on the road in the NFL, and especially having to go to Denver. Everyone saw the Broncos struggle last week with the Falcons and Texans seem like the easy way to go here. But I think it's an overreaction and Denver is better than last week's performance, and rebound this week to upset the talented Texans in a close one. Pick: Broncos

Jess: I think this will be a good game (I've been wrong about that before though). The Texans seem to always have Peyton's number, and that was even when the team was struggling. That being said, I think Manning bounces back after that rough game in Atlanta. Pick: Broncos

Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: Steelers take a trip out west into the Black Hole that is the Raiders. Pittsburgh just has too much here on both sides of the ball and the Raiders are still struggling to get an identity. McFadden is back from injury and taken charge as the work horse on offense again, but he can't do it all on his own and the Raiders passing game has yet to gel. Pick: Steelers

Jess: Do you know how difficult it is to pick a winner in this game, for a life-long Seahawks fan? A tie here would be good, but if I'm being realistic I have to go with the better team. Pick: Steelers

Primetime Game
Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: This is such a talented Ravens team, but they just seem to really lose focus just out of nowhere someweeks. I am hoping this isn't one of those weeks and the Pats walk into a buzz saw. Ravens D isn't quite the same without Suggs, but still a talented bunch and hopefully bring pain against the Pats and Ms. Brady this weke. Yes you're correct, this is an anti Pats pick, 'cause well, I can't stand 'em. Pick: Ravens

Jess: I always like the Ravens, but I think the Patriots are going to come in to this game hungry for a W, after an embarrassing loss to the Cardinals last week. Pick: Patriots

Bonus MNF Pick
Blog Photo - NFL Week 3 Open Thread
Sid: The Seahawks and their talented rookie QB seem to be a team on the rise and have improved on defense. But I don't think they have enough to take down the Packers even at home. Pack have their struggles on defense, but the offense is still a power house and I think Aaron Rodgers starts to find a better groove this week. Hawks should hang in but won't have enough down the stretch in this one. Pick: Packers

Jess: I never like to pick or bet on a game when my team is playing. I will say that special teams could very well be a deciding factor in this game. I just hope Seattle's secondary shows up for this game, and the pass rush continues to improve. They need to put pressure on Rodgers, and Seattle's offense will need to take less time getting warmed up than the past couple of games. And the defense has to get better on third down! I will be without a voice on Tuesday, but being there with 67,000 of my fellow 12th Man for MNF will be worth it.

We appreciate your time, Sid! And good luck on all of your picks.

Anything to add to our analyses? Give us your thoughts, and then Q it up here all day long, from kickoff through the Primetime game!

Oh I like the new "remix" of the NFL Sunday on NBC intro. Maybe that was what I needed; I was sick of it. Ugh but that still doesn't take Cris Collinsworth out of the equation.

Huge completion from Schaub to Johnson.  Texans should be able to run off most of the time left on the clock

Got his bell rung by Mundy on IMO, was a hit to a defenseless receiver.  He was out cold before he hit the ground but when they loaded him on the cart, he was alert and gave the thumbs up to the crowd

I will say I'm nervous as heck about this game.  I don't think the Falcons did us any favors with those 3 interceptions last week.  Pretty sure Peyton will be a man on a mission this afternoon.  Not to be a defeatist, but part of what I would hate about a loss today is everyone will say, "Same ol' Texans, still can't beat Peyton."
