Week 3 Fantasy reactions

The fantasy owner's top 5 knee-jerk overreactions: Week 3

Week 3 is behind us and things are getting serious. All those enticing players you were considering picking up off waivers-- yeah, they're gone. Somebody smarter than you picked up Alfred Morris 3 weeks ago, Mikel Leshoure 2 weeks ago, and the entire Giants' second team last week. Hell, I wasn't even able to get Bilal Powell this week, and the extent of the Jets' ground and pound so far this season is Rex Ryan yelling "ground and pound!" while he tosses and turns in his sleep. Players are coming off the board.

At this point in the season, the moves to be made are trades (before the true value of every player is known to your entire league) and smart decisions regarding which players to start against which teams. Now shut up! Pay attention! OK, let's begin.

With every new week, figure out who's about to torch the Saints

The New Orleans Saints may very well have the worst defense in the NFL. Last week they gave up 233 yards rushing to Jamaal Charles. The week before they were lit up by Cam Newton. Week 1 saw Robert Griffin III throw a party for himself in the Superdome in a way no rookie should be allowed.

This week, the Saints are coming to Lambeau to face an angry, angry, aaaannngry Packers team (I forgot why. Can anybody recall?) So who's about to go off on New Orleans this time around? If you've got Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, I'm sure you're starting them already. For those of you who might have Randall Cobb or Cedric Benson on your bench, get 'em in the starting lineup. James Jones is owned in less than 25% of leagues. If you're short a WR this week he should definitely be considered. Either way, I'm pretty sure the Saints are about to get it.

On the flip side, it should be a high scoring game in Lambeau, so look to start your Saints wide receivers in anticipation of the shootout.

Don't start players against the Cardinals. Or atleast try not to, okay?
LeSean McCoy managed just 7 points in Arizona last week. Tom Brady was flummoxed (flummoxed, I tell you!) in Week 2 at home against this Cards D. Marshawn Lynch was held to under 100 yards in the season opener. Reggie Bush expects to play this Sunday against the Cards. Good for him. Don't play him. Don't play any of his backups. Don't even play Tannehill (just joking, you don't have Tannehill! What a hilarious joke.)

Get what you can for Chris Johnson, before his name is 100% obsolete
My god Chris Johnson is awful. Despite the fact that the Titans put up 44 (actual) points against the Lions, Johnson managed just 4 fantasy points, giving him a total of 8 on the season. There may still be somebody in your league who can't seem to wrap their mind around the fact that Chris Johnson, arguably the best back in the league just 2 seasons ago, can no longer rush for more than 2 yards per carry. Try making a trade now before the only thing you can do with the man is drop him. Go for an emerging RB somebody may not have total faith in, like Andre Brown, Mikel Leshoure, or Alfred Morris. I suggest proposing every straight up trade imaginable to see if anybody bites.

Chris Johnson sucks.
